LadyStar, FrostFern, WindyHeart, SilveryFrost, CactusFlower, and many other important StarClan cats were gathered in a clearing of mist and cloud. They waited silently till every cat in all of StarClan's ranks were gathered, then WillowStar, a beautiful silver-gray tabby, began.
"The clans face a very difficult time ahead," She let her words ring ominously around the clearing and suddenly the mist faded and a pool could be seen on the ground, the StarClan cats gathered by it's edges.
The pool reflected the sky and faces of cats above it, at first, but the images in it twisted as the StarClan cats watched.
-It showed a snowy landscape, CelestialClan territory, obviously. It was snowing heavily and several cats could be made out struggling through the blizzard, searching for absent prey that could never be found in a place so cold as the one the cats appeared to be in. CelestialClan territory, if the territory was clan territory at all, had become very cold in the vision. The cold in the pool's reflection seemed to make the temperature around the pool colder, somehow. One by one, the cats in the image dropped with cold and exhaustion and lay there, unmoving; dead.
-The image changed to a desert-like place... MysticClan, minus the trees and flowering cacti. The cats there were lying in the heat, their chests rising and falling rapidly. There were no trees, no shadows to take shelter under. Nothing could hide the cats from the burning sun. Prey raced abundantly across nearby hills, and one or two cats vainly chased them, but they werent fast enough and the heat took a toll on their stamina. Those cats met the same fate as the ones in the cold had.
-Then the pool changed to a NatureClan-type territory so thick and lush with trees and branches that the cats in the picture struggled through them awkwardly, unable to even touch the ground, leaving behind patches of fur. They kept going for a long while, but one by one, they began to get stuck between tight branches and could not, no matter how hard they tried, get free of the thorns and tight brambles that held them like a trap. Their fate was like the one of the first two cat visions.
-The pool changed to SpectrumClan, but the rocky terrain had changed. The once-smooth stones of the ground were sharp and pointed upwards; a death trap for any slender-legged cat that tried walking across them. The hills were steeper, more like mountains than moors. Cats with bloodied feet limped their way across the sharp stones; all eventually dying of infected cuts or of a lack of catchable prey(what could they catch with paws torn up like they were?).
-And then the pool changed to a marshy-territory that looked like NatureClan's home before the Battle of Change. The cats there were few, but they appeared to be from every clan because of their wide variety of body-forms. They were trying to fish and avoid swamp predators at the same time, but it wasnt WORKING. They were all eventually snapped up by gators, owls, and snakes.
Then the pool's surface shivered and became still.
"This is what StarClan have predicted." WillowStar announced ominously,
"What can we do to help the clans face this unavoidable fate?"
