[Mwuahaha.. Me wrote a story! Well, a very very small story. It's a project I had in English. I'm quite proud of it, as English is my second language at school, since I is Quebecer(French).
It's supposed to be kinda scary, since you're supposed to put in your story the signs of fear. So yh... enjoy! Pwz comment if ya have anything to say..
Btw, the Ottawa Citizen is the newspaper we get here.]

The Drop
“What’s happening?”
Beside me, Karl shrugged. “I don’t know. Probably some technical difficulties,” he suggested. He then looked down at me, his blue eyes black in the darkness. “Are you okay?”
I bit my lower lip and nodded. I leaned my head against his shoulder, well aware that I was quite small compared to him. I felt so tiny and useless at this very moment.
You see, seconds ago we were going up and up. We almost reached the top of the world’s tallest shopping centre, when the elevator that we were in suddenly stopped. The lights went off, only to be replaced by the weak emergency ones. Even with them, it was quite dark.
I’ll be honest with you. I was scared. Freaked out, even. Karl and me were stuck in an elevator, maybe thirty stories high, with a bunch of agitated strangers.
Somewhere in this dark place, a baby started crying. It’s mother tried to soothe it, but it was obvious even she was too scared to do anything.
“What if we loose oxygen in here?” the man behind me suddenly shouted out. I wrapped my arms around Karl, seeking comfort. The thought of no more oxygen sure wasn’t comforting.
Somehow, my boyfriend managed to stay cool. I found myself proud of him, even while I was surrounded with all this confusion and gloom. “If no one comes and get us out of here in ten minutes, then we could make a hole in the roof of this thing,” he told the man, taking control of the situation. My hero. “The elevator might start again. You never know.”
“It’s getting cold, Daddy,” a little girl mumbled. I felt my head turn to look at her, in a dark corner with a man beside her.
“That’s all right, sweetie,” the man, her father, answered.
“And I’m scared.”
“Me too. But everything will turn out fine.”
“Okay.” The little girl sounded satisfied. I wasn’t.
I didn’t know how much time had passed. Maybe it was an hour. Maybe only ten minutes. Either way, Karl had taken out part of the roof for some air, and most people in the elevator were now sitting.
My palms were sweaty and I could feel the adrenaline in my body. I was jumpy to every sound, and even with Karl holding me, I felt like something terrible was going to happen.
I could even hear my heart beating at high speed.
How much did I longed to be back home. Or even at school. Anywhere else than this enclosed space. Being surrounded with so many people… I felt so nervous. A little more, and I might start to twitch.
Then, there was a noise. Like something snapping. I stood up quickly, and everyone else did the same. Maybe there was someone out there, trying to get to us? Like a rescue group? Karl grabbed my hand, and I looked up in his eyes. We hoped together.
Five minutes or so passed, and still we stood with our eyes glued to the top of the elevator, where we agreed the sound was coming from.
That was when everything went wrong.
Ca-click. Click. Crr… It sounded as if something had broke. Like a metallic rope or something.
Then… silence. Total silence. All we could hear was the little girl and the baby breathing heavily. The rest of us were holding our breath, knowing something was going to happen.
Crrr… cling!
This time we saw it: one of the ropes holding the elevator snapping. The next thing I knew, everyone was screaming, Karl and me included. We knew what was going to happen, and we all pleaded for someone or something to save us. I was dead scared and I could feel all my muscles were tense.
Suddenly, we fell. I just knew we were going to…
