The rain poured from the gray sky, clouds covered every inch in sight. It was dark, even though it was just past sunhigh. It was almost bonechillingly cold. A beautiful tortoishell dragged her paws through the mud, head down. Nights like these reminded her where her life was. It was the perfect weather to bring back memories. She shook her head sadly, the rain plastering her wet fur to her body. She shivered, just wanting to get to her dry den. (BURN WITH SAM)

A tom walked happily through the woods, as happy as he had ever been for a long time. He sniffed the air and smelled a scent he had missed for a long time, he raced towards her slowing down as he saw her through the thick down pour that blurred his vision.

Leaf didn't yet notice Sam as she continued walking, still wanting to get to her den. She looked to the sky, forest green eyes reflecting what she saw. She continued to drag on through the land, reaching the lake shore.

Sam walked closer to her, his pelt wet, "Hey remember me?" he asked teasingly as he walked towards her through the rain. His blue eyes were bright even in weather so bad.

Leaf jumped in surprise to face him. "Sam! What are you doing here?" She tried to make her voice sharp but she was too excited. "Why didn't you just send your sister?"

Sam face wrinkled in confusion, he did not know she found out about him sending his half sister, Olivia had told him that she had not been caught and everything ran smoothly. He shrugged it off and smiled, "There is no need to anymore" Sam meowed with a crooked grin.

Leaf narrowed her eyes, though in confusion, not anger. "What... do you mean?" SHe asked, blinking several times and looking over Sam's face. He seemed happy for some reason...

"Your no longer in danger" he meowed calmly and his voice was bubbling with good nature, "I made a deal with Vixen, she is not going to be after you anymore" he meowed explaining more. Sam blinked twice hoping she would forgive him for leaving her.

Leaf stayed still for a moment, thinking if it was truly possible, then sighed in relief. "Really?" She asked, looking back to Sam.

Sam looked at her with sorry eyes, "Really, I mean i would only come here if you were safe and I would not want to cause you anymore pain...." Sam meowed somberly looking away from her into the dark trees the to the ground.

Leaf looked away too, and wanted to change the subject from herself. "Your father and mother say hi..." She meowed quietly.

"Oh you met them?" he asked turning his blue eyes to look at her now in the almost darkness and the pouring rain that was making the dirt into mud.

Leaf nodded, and then a grin came to her face. "What does yellow mean?" She asked suddenly.

Sam looked confused but then understood, "well pale yellow is nervous or aleart, a bright yellow is happy" he meowed with a chuckle as he looked at her with eyes that were hard to read.

Leaf thought back, realizing they were a plae yellow. "Well... he did run off to somewhere after I talked to him, but why would he be alert?" She asked, relieved they were no longer talking about herself.

"Who knows he is always up to somthing... maybe he forgot to do somthing" he meowed with a shrug and shook off his pelt it was still raining, "You better get to your den or you'll get sick" he meowed with caring eyes since the rain was really cold.

Leaf looked at the sky with a shrug. "I'm fine." Since she got to talk to Sam, how could she not be fine?

Sam flicked his tail, "I won't leave you ever unless you want me too" he meowed and flicked her ear with his tail, he just wanted to make her happy now. He hoped she would forgive him for everything.

Leaf blinked and looked at the ground, trying to unscramble the words she wants to say in her head. "How do you know?" She asked, voice soft, as she looked at him.

"No one or nothing can take me away from you, last time i'd left I thought I would be strong enough to be away from you but every day a pain was eating at me and I knew that I could never be away from you again..." He meowed quietly.

Sam nodded with a grin, "Come on we better get back to your den." He meowed, he had not been there for a long time. He sighed remembering that he had found a new den in rogue territory but that did not matter now.

Leaf sighed and nodded, getting to her paws and padding forward. But only a few pawsteps before she turned around to look at Sam, making sure he was actually going to follow, or if he was pulling a fast one and was about to run from her yet again.

Sam followed behind her though his blue eyes straying to the dark sky that was filled with clouds and to the rain that continued to fall from the ominous looking sky. He smelled the damp scent of rain and Leaf's sweet scent too. He looked to he with a comforting smile as he kept walking on through the muddy wet ground.

Soon enough they reached the small cave that bore into the ground, weathered tan with sand and dirt. She only walked in a few steps and stopped so she could still see outside. The very first time she and Sam had met, she had mentioned that she loved the rain.
