A gray cat slithered down the alleyway, carefully. He stopped every few steps, glancing back behind him, as if he was being followed.
He could never let his family find out about this.
His blood red eyes scanned the alley, his ears pricked, before he moved along. Despair did this until he was at the end of the alley. VampireBat could never find out about Carlie. Despair wasn't sure what his family would do.

Carlie suddenly dropped down in front of him and then sent several signals with her tail to those cats in her group around her to keep watch.... obviously Carlie was being careful about VampireBat and them as well... If they found out about this meeting it would be disasterous to everyone. She turned back to Despair stiffly.... almost reluctantly. He face was hard and her eyes cold as she looked at him.... very unusual for the always cool and collected Carlie. "What do you want?" She demanded her fluffy tail sweeping behind her in agitated lashes

"What's your problem, Fluffy?" Despair asked, seating himself. "Someone out steal one of your bracelets?" Despair's tone was sarcastic, rude almost.

Carlie was about to make a sharp retort back, but changed her mind right before that... wouldn't help anyways. "Do you want something really? or did you just come here to insult?" She asked calming slightly to her more regular self. She stood up and pointedly made her bracelets jingle loudly
About the moment little Ramirez came walking up as if Despair wasn't even there. His black pelt blended in well with his surroundings so he was almost invisible, except his bright silver eyes "Hey mom, I got what you wanted to know" He offered, only then seeming to notice the tom that his mother was talking too...
Carlie let out an exhasperated sigh, this was not the way she'd planned this to be going

Despair looked struck a little. "Mom?" He turned, asking Carlie. "Mom? When did you have kits?" Just then little Bat bounded forward, blinking his little red eyes at Despair. Despair's eyes widened and stepped back, almost stumbling. "Oh for the love AbyssClan." he breathed.

Carlie's orange eyes hardened slightly "Well, if you'd been around and not off on a killing spree with VampireBat and all you MIGHT have known, but it seems killing helpless victims that did nothing at all to you, except for the fact that you wanted to drink their blood was more important" She meowed obviously showing her disapproval for his latest actions. After she said that she swept her fluffy tail around Bat and Ramirez and pushed them back, more behind her getting only soft hiss from Ramirez

Thunder trotted out after Ramirez, and even though she was the same age as Carlie's kits she showed no resemblance. A stolen kit perhaps? She blinekd as she saw the tom, but said nothing as she stood beside Ramirez and Bat behind Carlie.

Despair's jaw set. "VampireBat warned me about this." he muttered, then turning sharply for Carlie. "He's the only one that hasn't dismissed me for just being a red-eyed cat. The only one that ever watched out for me." he argued. "And what did those cat's mean to you? Cat's die everyday. What do you care?"

"The only one?!" Carlie hissed almost a snarl that echoed loudly off the streets.... She winced slightly and lowered her voice again "I didn't...." She whispered indignantly sounding quite hurt, but regained her confidence in a matter of moments "If VampireBat cares about you so much then why are going to such lengths to hide this?" She asked obviously meaning the whole meeting with her while also sweeping her tail over the kits.... They would be killed without remorse if VampireBat found out about them... and no doubt he would eventually....

Despair hissed. "Because!" The gray tom's pelt bristled, but he forced it flat. "Because." he stated more quietly.

"You have no reason" Carlie stated matter-of-factly "You're caught in a web of lies that VampireBat has woven around you... He has done NOTHING that has helped you, he has only pushed you farther away" She whispered seeming quite pained by even saying the words, but it was full of confidence... She knew she was right on this particular matter.

That's the most important thing in your life now?" Carlie asked as calmly as she could... They were simple questions, but held alot of gravity in the answer....

I watched you personally from a distance the minute Vitalany first came to me with the information that you'd gone to VampireBat.... That night of the massacre.... it was all obssession...." She whispered ever so softly casting glances at the three kits as if wondering if she should order Vitalany to take them back to the temporary hide out or to let tthem continue listening.....

"I spy on everybody" She retorted.... wasn't exactly a lie... Carlie didn't usually spy on many cats herself, but everyone else in her group usually did that spy part themselves and just told her what goes on around them.... Thats how she always seemed to be ahead of everyone....
"What about your sister? Your mother? errrr.... anyone!....There has to be someone thats worth more than VampireBat.... just a little while ago you despised your father and now you join him....? Someone has to have always been there.... everybody has someone" Carlie asked.... she was practically pleading, desperately clinging onto those last fleeting hopes.... But despite it all she expected it all to come to a crashing end.... devastating end.... She was now working as hard as she could to keep herself under control.... no crying... very hard

Carlie let it go with that... the kits were a much more happy subject anyways "This one is Bat, Emerald, and then Ramirez.... this one is Thunder, Ramirez's friend that spends her time with us more than anywhere else" She replied pointing to each of the kits in turn, Bat, then the little calico she-cat that looked alot like Carlie, then the black tom with silver eyes... and lastly the little ginger she-cat that had no resemblance to anyone else... no reason to bring up the whole 'stealing' Thunder... thought it wasn't exactly stealing....

Despair looked them over once, though he looked at Bat with scornful eyes that made the little kit want to cringe. Despair looked back to Carlie, sitting. "Funny, I thought you'd be glad to see me." he muttered coldly.

Carlie just shrugged not really sure how to answer... "I'm just a bit nervous" She finally explained softly "On edge.... When I found out about you with VampireBat, it just opens up so many more vulnerable areas.... puts so many dangers in everyday life that shouldn't be there" She whispered soft enough that the kits wouldn't hear, about as close to an apology as Carlie could manage.... She didn't want them to hear.... Carlie knew the consequences of everything... She'd looked at them from all angles that she could think of.... She pointedly cast a worried glance over her kits, including Thunder.... Carlie wasn't only putting her life on the line with her relationship with Despair, but her kits... her beloved kits' lives as well and there was that little voice that just wanted her to end everything, yet she couldn't

I have a few tricks myself, but the problem is the ones that can actually fight decently... which leaves me with only a concern with two... your cousin actually and your father himself... and another, but those are the ones I'm worried about. Not your half-siblings" Carlie starting talking on about his half-siblings and so on....

Before she could say anything else Ramirez stepped forward, his silver eyes still moving slowly over Despair. "So where ya' been?" He asked in an innocent and curious tone... maybe too innocent....
