The Monster Virus
Then
A scientist had a dream of creating superior beings. To fulfill his dream he combined the genes of numerous beings and creatures and eventually had a serum to accomplish this. He had willing (and unwilling) people to inject his serum into and it was a success. Those injected with the virus could run faster, jump higher and lift more weight than the average human. But there was an unanticipated side effect. These superhumans had a taste for human blood. The bloodthirsty human escaped into the city, drinking the blood of passersby and passing on the virus. Eventually many were dead or where what had been dubbed "Vampires". Though, the scientist admitted, they were purely instinctual creatures, they weren't very bright, but they were relentless.
The scientist, horrified by what he had unleashed on an unprepared world, worked to create an antidote, but there was none, and there were more dead and more Vampires every day. He came upon an idea, one so insane that he thought that it would work. He created a new serum, a new virus to turn humans to battle the Vampires. In all ancient books he read, the only real foe of Vampires was a loup-garou, a werewolf.
Driven by a madness that started to eat away at him, he combined the genes of humans, canines and big cats, he created a new breed of werewolf. One with the brains and logic of humans. One with the speed and pack instincts of a canine. One with the agility and stealth of a feline. They did not look like the stereotypical creatures from horror movies. They could shift, yes, he had stolen werewolf DNA from a government vault. They could be average humans, but they were so much more. They could transform fully, or halfway. Halfway, they stood upright, as a human does but they are covered with dense fur and slitted pupils that could see in the darkest night. Fully, they resembled a wolf, but they had longer ears for catching sound better, the felines' slit pupils and the heavily muscled back legs for jumping.
But the scientist found that when in wolf form, the werewolves lost all sense of self and instead of protecting the humans, the wolves killed and fed on their former brothers and sisters.
He took remaining humans and injected the new virus into them hoping that instinct would kick in and the two species would fight to rid the world of the other. His hopes came true and immediately the two species fought each other. Though neither succeeded.
Now
The scientist hoped that the werewolves would immediately rid the world of the bloodsucking vampires. Instead, he created a world wide war, one that engulfed most of the human race. They were either infected or killed.
Now, the remaining humans scrounge to live everyday, living in small groups. They hide from the creatures that had once been fellow humans but are now transformed by what is now called "The Monster Virus".
This is you. This is your life. Will you survive?
