Stifledkit trudged through the thick mud, his tail and ears drooping with disapointment. He was a failure. He couldn't save his family, he wasn't a good brother, and he couldn't even fight in a two on two match right. 'I. Am. Useless.' He thought bitterly, his eyes studied the mud as he walked. The moon was covered by thick, angry clouds. There was no source of light what so ever.
He looked around cautiously, no cat was in sight. Good. He climbed up an uprooted tree and sat on one of it's thick branches. He sighed and licked his swollen chest. A faint scent drifted in the air, 'Lethe.' He comfirmed. He shut his eyes and tried to blend into the darkness. He really didn't want to fight with her, not now at least. He hoped she wouldn't see him, but of course, when Lethe came into view the clouds moved away from the moon.
The moon's rays were like a spot light on him. Great Abyssclan, can my life get any worse?! He thought as he sat up. No use hiding anyways. ((Lethe))

She was sliding through the most muddiest part of the swamp, sometimes jumping on a toad who was unlucky enough to be in her way. It would of been funny if it wasn't for her expression. Lethe looked around, trying to track the path she and her brother took from the sea. How would she get back there? She had no idea, but hopefully the current will be in her favor. She blinked as the moon came into view, finally having a clear view of her surroundings. Her pitch-black eyes narrowed as she saw the familiar cat sitting in the tree. So that's where the stink came from! she wanted to shout at him. But instead she did something that surprised even herself. She made her way through the mud to get closer to that tree, like that she wouldn't have to shout, and completely ignored the fact that her black fur was now completely muddy brown. "Now how had Helios did this before? One word... that started with an 'S'," she muttered to herself. "Oh, yeah." Lethe looked up and tried not to snicker. "Sorry, Wasp Brain," she meowed, her voice clear. No sarcasm. She must be into shock or something.

Stifledkit looked away, he didn't want her to say sorry. It only made him feel more miserable. "You have nothing to be sorry for." He meowed with out looking, "It was my fault anyways, I should have been paying attention." His voice was mono-tone but if a cat listened hard enough, they could hear pain behind it all.

She snorted. "Whatever. You aren't the one who made your partner bleed." Lethe sat down, swallowing tears. If there was one thing she hated a lot, it was getting into awkward situations. Especially awkward mistakes. Ugh. She curled her plumy tail around her front paws and sighed, digging her claws in the mud. "Stop blaming yourself for everything that ever went wrong." She paused and looked up at the moon. "Let go of the past, StifledKit," she said in a whisper, though loud enough he could hear. She also said it as if there was a double meaning in her words, that there were more about the past he should let go.

Stifledkit looked down at her, his eyes were watery but the tears refused to fall. "I can't." He whispered, his voice strained. "I can never get the images out of my mind. Never get their cries for help out my head. It's kiling me; from the inside to the outside." He shuttered suddenly, as if some cat had howled out in pain. "Never." He whispered again. His voice was so pained that it could make a cat cringe.

She just shrugged, even though she felt like someone just clawed at her heart because of the pain in his voice. Even though she had no idea what he was talking about, she could guess it was about before he joined the Fifth Clan. "Then I guess there's nothing anyone can do for you, Wasp Brain. You kinda just cursed yourself when you said that," she mewed, looking back at her small paws. "Um, sorry for bringing up the subject. If I knew..."

Stifledkit flicked his tail, as if to brush of her comment, "Ah don't worry about it. It doesn't bother me to talk about my past." He mewed quietly. He looked back down at her, "Wanna come up?" He mewed as he moved over.

She nodded once and leaped at the first branch, making her way up from branch to branch. She sat down beside him, not seeming very comfortable being this close to someone else than her brother. "So what is your past, if it doesn't bother you much to talk about it?"

"Sure." He answered Starkit, then turned his head to watch the moon creep up the horizon. "Well I lived with my father and mother in the inbetween, well at least I thought she was my mother." He corrected, "Anyways, my mother was pregnant and was soon to be kitting. So father and her were talking and acting all giddy as always when this rouge cat came out of no where. He was young, and strong. His eyes were cold and savage and his claws were like raptors. He yowled and argued with my parents. I was watching this all from up in a tree." He added, glancing the two kits beside him. "Well I saw the young tom slit my mother's stomach open, the kits poured out of her so fast..." His voice began to trail off.

"Wait," Lethe said quickly before he could say anything else. "Didn't the rogue, like, scent you were there or something?" She looked curiously at StarKit, wondering how a blind kit could make it up a tree, and then switched her questioning gaze on StifledKit..

"The rouge only wanted revenge. I don't know if he scented me, I was so... scared. I couldn't move, I should have. I should have fought, I could have helped." He sighed, "Plus the rouge wouldn't have a quarl with me, my mother wasn't really my mother at all."

Starkit flicked his tail as he felt Lethe's gaze. He would show her. Quickly he felt the tree and started to claw his way up. When he got to the branch they were on he gave Lethe the I DID IT SEE!!! look. "It would be terrifying if a rogue did that to any cat, when there is a kit around." He mewed.

She rolled her eyes at StarKit, but that he knew that she didn't know. "Rogues have no pity, Star. They could slash the belly of your sister wide open right in front of you, letting the organs spill slowly, let her suffer a long painful death... and they wouldn't care the least. Sometimes, the worst pain than a painful death is watching those you love die a painful death right in front of you, and you to still live with those memories the rest of your life." She shuffled her paws, changing sitting positions to get a better view on the moon. It's silver light brought a gleam to her black eyes, which somehow had turned into a light shade of golden while she spoke with the two kits.

Stifledkit nodded, "I would have stood in my step mother's paws... to save her the pain and suffering." He meowed, his voice still pained with regret. His gaze lifted up to the moon, he felt a tranquil peace come over him.
