The Night Has Come.

Swampkit bounded out of the nursery, her eyes gleaming in anticipation. Her lips were parted in an odd-like smile, "Come on you twits." She called softly.

Bloodkit, her brother, was the first to arrive, followed by Jeweledkit and Stifledkit. All the clan cats were sleeping, and the moon was glowing brilliantly in the deep blue sky. Tonight the kits would practice their battling skills, there would be one on one matches as well as two on two matches.

These kits would be the best batch of apprentices yet. Everstar would be thrilled, plus they'd all kick the crap out of the other clans' appretnices.

Helios and Lethe bounded out from what seemed to be from the shadows, a strange mystical smile on their faces, as if they knew something the others' didn't.
The bronze tabby tom glinted unnaturally in the darkness, his golden eyes bright. His sister, barely visible because of her dark pelt and eyes, seemed to be in a more sulky mood.

"We know how to fight already," Lethe complained, sitting down foots away from the others, quickly glaring at StifledKit and then away.

Volekit bounced 0ut first coming to stand around the other kits.... full of energy as always. "Lets get started" He whispered excitedly

Dawnkit padded out calmly her eyes now had a greenish tint to them.... she was relaxed. She would have some fun tonight. She didn't care if she lost to her own clanmates.... no one should care, but all she wanted to do was beat the heck out of the other clan apprentices. She smiled at the thought.

Blazekit sat down beside Eternalkit. He would partake in the fighting, but of course Eternalkit downright refused so she would just watch.

Stifledkit chuckled, "Okay let's start off with a two on two match. How about Me and Lethe and Helios and Dawnkit?" He offered.

Jeweledkit nodded, "SOunds fair. Right guys?" A murmer of acceptance could be heard from the other kits, "All right then. You four should start then."

Oh, wonderful.
Helios frowned as he looked at his sister stomp toward StifledKit.
This practice just turned into a blood-and-claws war, he thought.
He tried to act more cheerful as he approached DawnKit, forcing a smile. At least, he thought he was pretty lucky not being the other tom.

"Wasp-brain, do you know why me and my bro arrived at camp half-dead?" Lethe asked, a smile in her voice. A dark smile. "We fought in a real war, not in some kits' imaginated world."
But the words were actually painful to her.

Stifledkit actually dared to put hit tail on the her flank, "Don't worry about it." He could sence the pain she was suddenly feeling. "I think I may just understand how you feel, course what happened to me was..." He caught himself, "Neh. Doens't matter anyway." He half heartedly smiled.

Swampkit, Bloodkit, and Jeweledkit sat down to watch the fight. "Should be a good match." One of them whispered excitedly.

Dawnkit narrowed her eyes at her two 'opponents' before she turned her gaze on Helios, and smiled politely. She looked him over quickly... He was bigger probably stronger...than her He knew how to fight... yeah he would be a good partner she decided.

"Um... Do we start on someone else's signal or on our own?" Helios asked, and looked around with uneasiness in his eyes. He didn't like being the center of attention very much, especially when it comes to a fight.

She backed away a few steps and frowned at him. She could tell he was hiding something. But she and her brother were too, so what the hey.
Lethe looked swiftly at her brother, asking herself the same question. This was only their third night at camp, and they just turned six moons, but she had the size of a four-moons-old kitten. She unsheathed raptor-like black claws, matching her pelt. Her eyes had turned into something closer to gold after the few words she exchanged with StifledKit seconds ago, but she wasn't going to let those feelings get to her in a battle. The black she-kit went into a fighting stance, extending her claws the farthest they could go, balancing her featherly weight in her back legs. Lethe curled her lips over her sharp white fangs, waiting for whatever signal. From the corner of her eyes, she saw her brother getting into the same position.

WildKit exited the nursery, nosing another smaller kit ahead of her: SnakeKit.

The fuzzy tabby's gold eyes glowed delightedly.
"Owh boi! Pree-apprentish battl trainin'!" SnakeKit did a little leap, then turned on WildKit, biting her front paw with exceptionally long fangs.

"What the hell, SnakeKit?!" WildKit shook her gray dappled paw wildly, throwing the tiny tom kit off into a nearby log.

"Oof!"

"What's wrong with you?"

"What'sh rong wit yoo?" SnakeKit shot back, shaking off the sudden soreness from his impact with the log.

WildKit was examining two little dents in her skin that were beginning to well blood.
"They should have named you DemonKit."

"Deemun, Snaik; same difrinse."

Stifledkit crouched down into his own battle stance, his weight evenly distributed between both haunches. His claws were unsheathed, and his muscles were tence. At any given moment he could spring from his stance to attack. He closed his eyes and visioned himself attacking and dodging blows. His ears were pricked for the siganl.

"On my mark." Swampkit meowed, "3... 2... 1... GO!" She leapt out of the way so the four cats could begin the match.

Dawnkit smiled, showing her vampire teeth, as got quickly into her defensive crouch and began stalking slowly to the side. She stayed light on her toes, and would be ready to dodge to the side before probably anything hit her. She wasn't very strong, especially against two 6 moons kits, but her 4 moon size body was very quick and could get her out of most things. She looked at Helios quickly to see what he was doing so she could see how to best work with him, before turning her yellowish eyes toward her opponents quite excitedly.

Lethe leaped, landing right beside him. She clawed StifledKit at the face, and less than half a second after she slashed at his chest or belly, whichever one wasn't protected. Just as quickly she jumped back, not waiting to see if she had done any damage.

The bronze tabby eyes narrowed as he stalked around DawnKit, both kits doing wide circles like lions before they attacked. He tried to see any way he could pass through her guard, and to guess where she would jump to dodge his attacks.
Helios decided what he would do, and he leaped at her with sheathed claws, obviously trying to smack her muzzle. Very painful for a cat.

((Hey, I just realized something. Won't the queens realize something is up with their kits are all sliced up in the morning?))

Stifledkit's eyes widened with shock, "What the hell are you DOING?" He spat. Blood poured out of his chest and face.

Jeweledkit growled threatenly and launched herself at Lethe. Jeweledkit was fast and smart, she targeted Lethe's side and slashed her claws acrossed it. She then went to Stifledkit's side, "Are you all right?" She asked.

Swampkit rolled her eyes at the whole scene, "Helios and Lethe." She snarled, adrressing the two newbies. "Stifledkit is your PARTNER Lethe, and Helios Dawnkit is your PARTNER. YOur suppose to work together, not destroy each other." Swamptkit shook her head.

Both Helios and Lethe took a step back, looking utterly confused.

"Next time, say that before we start fighting, rock-brained," Lethe hissed SwampKit. She sat down and licked the wound JeweledKit gave her on her side, trying to stop the bleeding.

If it was even possible, Helios seemed even more uncomfortable. He looked around, feeling really awkward. "Um, sorry DawnKit. Maybe me and Lethe should, you know, sit over there and two other kits could fight? VoleKit and SnakeKit could give it a try," he said, trying to not let his voice quiver with shame. At least he didn't do anything that could of badly wounded DawnKit. He looked at her with an apologetic expression, his golden eyes turning darker.
Helios then dragged a protesting Lethe to the back of the crowd, like that it would be harder for the others to look at them.

Swampkit rolled her eyes again, "Stifledkit stated that it would be a two on two match, mouse brain." She walked over to Stifledkit who's blood wouldn't stop pouring out of his chest. "Great, I think you've just killee Stifledkit." She meowed drily.

Stifledkit's chest was swollen and blood seeped through his torn skin. He tried to lick it clean but the blood just kept coming. He could feel his sister getting nervous beside him, "Get Seth." He whispered to her.

Jeweledkit nodded and krept away silently. "Seth." She whispered as she poked her head into the apprentice den. Seth's green eyes fluttered open.

"Yeah?" He answered, groggily.

"It's Stifledkit."

With out a moments hesitation Seth was up and already beside Stifledkit. "Ooo... That's gonna leave a mark." He meowed quietly, he sniffed it carefully. "It's already infected as well." He stated and shook his head. He began to fix up the wound, grabbing leaves, berries, and cobwebs. Stifledkit stood there as ridged as a statue.

Lethe sat down in the shadows and glared at her small paws. She was barely visible in the darkness, black on black.

Helios made his way back to the center. "Is there anything I could get to help?" he asked.

"Well, you weren't exactly very clear on the directions" Dawnkit retorted as she looked at Lethe in the shadows, and Helios just nearby. She shot a look at Helios showing that she forgave him, and..... sympathy... how unusual for her. She sat down slowly. She hadn't even been touched in the fight with Helios.... of course between them it hadn't gotten very far.

"It's alright if you mess up, but lets continue. I still want to see who would win the fight... Helios and Dawnkit vs. Lethe and Stifledkit. It would be a good fight" Volekit piped up enthusiastically.

Lethe snickered from the shadows. "Stifled wouldn't be able to raise a paw now."
Her voice was rough, and sounded hostile, though there was a painful edge to it. She didn't want to go back up. She hated making mistake, and now wanted to disappear in the shadows completely. Deep down she felt so very bad, but it was impossible for anyone to notice when she was so hidden at the back.

Helios sighed a relief that DawnKit was fine, but he kept glancing with worry at StifledKit and Lethe. He heard in her voice that she wasn't very happy with what damage she'd done... And instantly felt her presence disappear. He looked back in the shadows, and sure enough, his sister wasn't there anymore. A lump came in his throat, but he kept his mouth shut.

"He would have gotten hurt anyways...." Volekit pointed out softly though he knew this conversation was over.

Dawnkit sighed... no fight now. She had been looking forward to that such a disappointment. Then again she couldn't exactly blame them.... they're probably just so used to fighting together.

He read the disappointment on DawnKit's face. "I'm still itching for a battle," Helios lied. That was him, always putting others before himself. He wanted to go after his sister, but she wouldn't let her 'annoying brother' talk to her. He knew, 'cause this ain't the first time something like this happened.

Dawnkit narrowed her slightly blue eyes.... "No you aren't" She commented so softly only he'd be able to hear her. She licked one of her ginger tabby paws before swiping them over her black ears.
