"Sleeping?" He asked before shrugging and padding toward a rock mound. He looked at it, no lose rocks for a cave in, that was always a good thing. He crawled in and curled up. He was protected above, behind, and both sides. "How about this?" He called to his mentor.

"Have fun with that." she grinned snuffling aroudn in the snow till she had a large mound of snow which she packed tightly then burrowed under and lay down in "Now close your eyes, and let yourself fall almost asleep, but listen intently"

SharpPaw growled low before copying BlackAbyss. Pretty soon he was catnapping listening intently.

BlackAbyss hadn't been expecting the sound that came next... a whuffling.... that could only belong to an arctic wolf......she snappe dher eyes open and listened... it was between her and her apprentice.... not good...

SharpPaw's eyes snapped open and saw a dark shape. He would have called to his mentor, but something told him that this was not expected. He crouched low and pressed against one of the rock walls his eyes never leaving the shape

BlackAbyss hissed softly coming out of her snow shelter growling at the wolf.... three times her size the wolf turned towards her "SharpPaw." she called keeping her eyes on the predator "This would be a good time to run for help." she knew if he went around the IceField he would never be fast enough "Go through the icefield, just remember what is blue is safe, white is bad." she said her breathing uneven with fear.. BlackAbyss had never experienced fear before

SharpPaw hesitated. He didn't want to leave his mentor, but recognizing the fear in her voice he dashed off hoping that the wolf wouldn't notice him, but then again also hoping that it ran after him instead of his mentor.

The wolf glanced at teh smaller prey runing then turned back to its terror stricken larger prey... it growled and lunged.. BlackAbyss shrieked and doged running along through the snow.. the larger wolf hot on her heels snapping at her, if she had had a full length tail, she wouldn't any more...... she was glad for having her half tail stub thing..... she kept running no trees... when you needed a tree....

SharpPaw heard her scream, and then summoning his courage he turned back. He climbed on top of hill like area so that he was above BlackAbyss and the wolf. He cut across so that he had caught up to them. He ran a little ways ahead and then leaped off landing on top of the wolf his claws unsheathed as he held on and bit down

The Wolf turned and snapped at the thing on its back BlackAbyss turned hearing it turn around she stared wide eyed and sighed "No SharpPaw you were supposed to run!" she almost Sobbed and launched at the thing taking one of its legs out... it fell

SharpPaw squeaked in reply as the wolf caught hold of one of his paws. He jumped back off it right before it hit the ground, but came back in full speed slashing a deep wound on its side ignoring the pain in his throbbing paw.

BlackAbyss lunged catching it by the muzzle and dragging down, she had it where a ending bite would be easy she begged her apprentice would get to it before it killed her

SharpPaw snarled and bit down as hard as he could on its neck. He held on long after the thrashing/struggling had stopped before he let go and backed up.

BlackAbyss sighed letting go she flopped on the snow.... blood seeping from a wound in her side her breathing was heavy "how is.... your paw?" she asked softly her breathing still labored

"I will be, if you can find me some CObwebs." she let out a hiss of pain as she shifted to try and ice the wound carefully rolling over so she didn't have to look at it

SharpPaw nodded and disappeared for a moment. He came back running awkwardly on three paws, one paw wrapped in cobwebs for his mentor. "You're gonna have to roll back over" He pointed out bluntly

"I just thought of that.." she said rolling over with another hiss... the wolf had caught her with one of its dangerous claws..... and ripped from shoulder ot hip along her rib cage, not too deeply.. not a mortal wound.. but painful... "You did extremely well back there SharpPaw." she said softly

SharpPaw gently put the cobwebs on, not very well for we was no medicine cat, but decent enough so that most of the bleeding would stop. "Thanks.... I wouldn't of been able to do it without you though" SharpPaw muttered.
