CometPaw hissed. no way some she-cat was going to show him up. CometPaw jumped up the tree after FernPaw, easily overtaking her with his tree climbing experience.

Dawnpaw tried to scale the tree too. 'Thump' She sucked at climbing.

He laughed again, which was quite unusual, as he continued climbing. He was nearing the bird's nest at the top of the tree.

CometPaw looked up. He was one branch away. " Just one more to go " He meowed under his breath. He was about to grab the branch when he heard a cracking noise and instantly knew that the branch was about to break. He quickly reached up and grabbed the closest branch just as the one below him broke off completely. He dangled helplessly in mid air.

At the worst moment possible, the mother bird, Snow, poked her head out of the nest and noticed CometPaw. She glared him down for a moment with emotionless beady black eyes, then pecked hard down on one of the two paws CometPaw was clinging to the branch with.

CometPaw hissed angrily. He was not going to be shown up by a stupid bird. Using his paw that she poked at he swung it around, claws unsheathed, and hit the bird squarely. He quickly pulled himself up onto the branch his heart hammering and paw throbbing.

The bird let out a furious squawk and pecked CometPaw again, this time on the head, affecting his balance.
She obviously thought he was trying to get to her chicks, MagnoliaKit and FlowerKit and whatever the other two chicks were named.

CometPaw wobbled a bit.... or alot. " No I'm not going to fall until AFTER I get the two mousebrained kits " He hissed under his breath. He swatted at her again and quickly jumped to the last limb so that he was on the same branch as the nest.

Just then another bird came. A BIGGER bird. The male. The two birds began crowing like no tomorrow and pecking at CometPaw.

" Hey someone down there do something " CometPaw hissed down to the warriors and apprentices watching him get attacked by birds. He ran to the nest and grabbed one of the kits ignoring the furious pecks on his pelt.

Dawnpaw relized to do something and was already scaling the tree. "I'm coming!" she yowled.

MagnoliaKit, the one left in the nest, was tumbling out of the nest. She shrieked when she lost her balance and fell, only managing to get a claw hold on the branch at the last minute. She was in the EXACT same position as CometPaw had been in only seconds ago.

CometPaw hissed in frustration again. He dropped Flowerkit on the branch where DawnPaw could pick her up. He leaped running against time to catch Magnoliakit before she pummeted to her death.

Just as CometPaw leaned over to grab her, MagnoliaKit fell. She dropped like a stone through the trees, dislodging leaves, till she hit the ground...
